Duve has introduced a new feature in the upsell requests management page to automatically handle outdated requests that the host did not approve before the delivery date. This feature is designed to improve the “Pending” requests tab by automatically expiring and moving outdated requests to a new “Expired” tab. This helps hosts focus on relevant, actionable requests, while also enabling them to review expired requests later for potential insights.
Note: The new Section will only reflect requests from Upsells set to "Require Approval"
Overview
In Duve’s platform, hosts can configure upsells and services for guests as either “Instant Booking” or “Require Approval.” When a request is set to “Require Approval,” hosts must manually approve or reject it before it’s fulfilled. However, requests that become irrelevant over time can lead to confusion and irrelevancy. For example, guests may receive a rejection notification for a room upgrade request well after their stay, leading to unnecessary confusion.
To address this, Duve’s new feature automatically expires outdated requests after a set period, removing them from the “Pending” tab and archiving them in a new “Expired” tab.
New upsells logic for expired:
-
- Early Check-in: The request expires one day after the check-in date.
- Late Check-out: The request expires one day after the check-out date.
- Room Upgrade: The request expires one day after the check-out date.
- Custom Services: The request expires one day after the check-out date.
How to Use the Expired Requests Feature
No setup is needed!
- Login to Duve Dashboard: Log in to your Duve account and go to the Upsell Requests page.
- View Tabs: Hosts now have three tabs in the request management interface:
- “Pending,” “Denied,” and the new “Expired.”
Expiry Process
- Automatic Expiry of Requests: The system automatically expires requests after a specified period:
- Early Check-in: Expires one day after the check-in date.
- Late Check-out, Room Upgrade, and Custom Services: Expire one day after the check-out date.
- Archiving Expired Requests: Once a request reaches its expiration date, it is moved to the “Expired” tab. Hosts are not required to manually reject these outdated requests, and no notifications are sent to guests or hosts regarding the expiry.
Reviewing Expired Requests
- Navigating to Expired Requests Tab: Click on the “Expired” tab to view all automatically expired requests.
- No Action Buttons: The approval and deny buttons are removed from expired requests, as they are no longer actionable.
Use Cases
1. Streamlining Host Workflow with Automatic Expiry
Hosts dealing with numerous upsell requests often struggle with checking them all. This new feature removes outdated requests from the “Pending” tab, allowing hosts to focus on relevant, actionable requests, which helps improve efficiency.
2. Reviewing Expired Requests for Missed Revenue Opportunities
With expired requests moved to a dedicated tab, hosts can later analyze these requests to understand missed revenue opportunities. For instance, if room upgrade requests are frequently left unapproved, hosts can explore why and potentially adjust their offerings to capture more revenue in the future.
3. Maintaining a Seamless Guest Experience
Guests are not impacted by the expiration of outdated requests, as no notifications are sent to them. This helps maintain a smooth guest experience without unnecessary notifications about expired or rejected services after their stay.
