New! Control Device – Duve

The Control Device feature introduces a powerful enhancement to Duve’s Online Check-In (OCI) experience by allowing hosts to remotely push check-in content, including registration cards, directly to guest-facing tablets.

With this new functionality, hotel staff can seamlessly manage multiple connected tablets, broadcast key actions, and monitor guest progress- all directly from the Duve dashboard.

Introduction

Check-ins often rely on physical tablets, manual staff assistance, and inefficient workflows.

The clear demand for a native, integrated alternative within Duve led to the development of Control Device — empowering properties to embrace full Online Check In adoption, reduce operational friction, and elevate the guest journey.

What Is Control Device?

Control Device is a new capability that allows hosts to:

Connect and manage multiple guest-facing tablets.
Push check-in flows(quick actions) and registration cards to those devices.
Monitor form submissions in real time.
Reset and prepare devices between guest sessions.
Offer guests a self-service kiosk-like experience.

How to Set It Up

Enable the Feature

For more information, contact our Support Team or your dedicated Customer Success Manager.

For multi-brand accounts, go to Settings > Click on the brand > Check-in > Check-in Portal. Enable the “Enable check-in” toggle at the brand level.

A new toggle named "Device control" exists under the check-in portal tab. Click 'Set up' to start the process.

Connect a Device

Click “Add Device” to generate a 4-character connection code.
On the external tablet, visit the provided URL and enter the code to pair the device.

Once connected, name the device (e.g., “Lobby Tablet A”) and save it.

Kindly note that each device needs to have a unique name -

3. Device Management

View connected devices under the Device Management screen.
Actions available:
- Rename device.
- Remove device (with confirmation).
- Resync device if the connection is lost.

An indication of the total devices connected or unavailable will appear in the overview page

How to Use It

In Reservations, Task Manager, or the Communication Hub pages, the host has the option to click “Send to device”.

Select the desired check-in flow page (e.g., Sign Registration Card, Update Personal Info) and select which device to send the page to.

Click “Start Sharing” to push the page to the guest-facing tablet.

Monitor the session through a broadcast toolbar — stop or adjust content as needed.

From the Host's View during the time that the guest is completing the page sent to device:

Tips & Tricks

Label Your Devices Clearly

Use recognizable names like “Front Desk Tablet” or “Spa Check-In iPad” to avoid confusion — especially useful for multi-device properties.

Save Time with Defaults

The system remembers your last-used page and device, streamlining repetitive tasks for high-traffic properties.

Handle No-Shows Smoothly

If a guest walks away or doesn't submit their form, use “Stop Sharing” to reset the device and prepare it for the next check-in.

Desktop-Only Actions

Sending content to devices is available only in desktop mode, ensuring better control and visibility for staff users.

User Permissions

Only Manager-level users can access the Remote Control section.

Monitor Device Availability

If a device goes offline, you’ll see a notification. Duve will also disable device selection in the broadcast popup when necessary.
