Use cases
- Send a different pre-arrival message to group bookings than to individual guests who booked directly.
- Show a dedicated Guest app post (for example, a corporate rate perks page) only to guests with a specific Market Code.
- Add the Market Code to internal or guest-facing messages so your team can quickly see the reservation's segment.
Before you start
- Your Duve account must be connected to Opera Cloud (OHIP) or Opera on-premise. The
{{marketCode}}parameter only appears in the dynamic parameters list when one of these integrations is connected. - Make sure Market Codes are filled in on your reservations in Opera. Duve can only display and use a Market Code that exists in the PMS.
How to set it up
No setup is needed. Duve fetches the Market Code from Opera automatically each time a reservation syncs, and keeps it up to date when the reservation changes in Opera.
To check that the Market Code synced:
- Open a reservation in Duve.
- Scroll to the Connectivity section.
-
Look for the Marketing source field, which shows the reservation's Market Code. This field only appears when the reservation has a Market Code.
How to use it
Add the Market Code to a message
- Open the message you want to edit (for example, a pre-scheduled message, an email template, a canned response, or a reply in the Communication Hub).
- Click the dynamic parameters button.
- Under Reservation data, select Market code, or type
{{marketCode}}directly into the text.
When the message is sent, {{marketCode}} is replaced with the reservation's Market Code from Opera.
Target messages and posts by Market Code
You can use the Market Code as a condition, so a message or post only applies to reservations with specific Market Codes.
- Open the pre-scheduled message or Guest app post you want to target.
- Add a condition and choose Marketing source.
- Choose Is or Is not, then enter the Market Code values to match.
- Save your changes.
The Marketing source condition is also available in the conditions for collecting stay payments.
Restrictions & Limitations
- The Market Code is read-only in Duve. To change it, update the reservation in Opera.
- The
{{marketCode}}parameter is not available in WhatsApp template buttons, the preferred greeting setting, or the unsubscribe auto-reply. - The Marketing source condition is not available as a filter in the Communication Hub conversation list.
- [Placeholder: confirm what guests see when
{{marketCode}}is used on a reservation that has no Market Code]
Tips & Tricks
- Use the exact Market Code values from Opera when building conditions. A condition only matches when the value is identical.
- Before relying on a Market Code condition, open a few reservations and check the Marketing source field to confirm the codes synced as expected.
- The Market Code is usually an internal code (such as "GRP" or "CORP"). Avoid showing it to guests directly unless the code itself is meaningful to them; it is often more useful as a condition than as text in a message.
FAQs
Q: Why don't I see "Market code" in the dynamic parameters list?
A: The parameter only appears when your account is connected to Opera Cloud (OHIP) or Opera on-premise, and it is not available on the Room Directory plan. It is also hidden in a few places, such as WhatsApp template buttons.
Q: What is the correct parameter to type?
A: Use {{marketCode}}, with a lowercase "m".
Q: Why is the Marketing source field missing from a reservation?
A: The field only appears when the reservation has a Market Code. Check the reservation in Opera to confirm a Market Code is set, then wait for the next sync.
Q: Can I edit the Market Code in Duve?
A: No. The Market Code comes from Opera and can only be changed there.
Q: Is the Market Code the same as the booking source?
A: No. In Opera, the Source Code is the main booking source, and the Market Code is a more detailed segment within it. Duve shows the Source Code as the Booking source and the Market Code as the Marketing source.
