Airbnb OTA Integration | How to Connect

This article explains the steps required to integrate Duve with your Airbnb account. In order to begin, you must have an Active Duve account.

 

Go to Settings > Connections > OTA Messaging, add a New source, and select 'Airbnb'.

 

Fill in an internal nickname and click Connect. Then you will be redirected to your Airbnb login page.

The page will refresh for you to open an account or to add your existing account:

 

 

 

After completing the connection, you will need to connect each Airbnb listing to the rental in Duve. To do this, please go to the Airbnb Source Sync page in Connections in Duve. 

 

In the table, match the Airbnb listing to the Duve rental via the dropdown menu. If the listing has multiple inventory (rentals in Duve), match each rental to the proper listing.

 

 

 

 

Message History: No message history is synced to Duve, only messages and inquiries sent from that moment onwards. 

Duve will sync messages up to 2 weeks after the checkout date. 

 

 

FAQs

Q: Where do I connect Airbnb in Duve?

A: Go to Settings, open the OTA Messaging tab, and add a new source. Choose Airbnb from the source list and click Connect. Duve sends you to Airbnb to authorize the connection, and Airbnb returns you to your Duve settings page when you approve it. Q: Is this the same thing as the Airbnb iCal connection?

A: No. "Airbnb ICAL" is a separate, calendar-based source type that reads an iCal link. The Airbnb OTA integration is an authorized API connection to your Airbnb host account, and it is the one that supports guest messaging, listing details, and reservation data.

Q: What permissions does Duve request on my Airbnb account?

A: The authorization screen asks for read access to your basic listing and reservation details, guest basic profile, guest full name, guest phone, email, and reviews, plus permission to read and send messages and to write phone and review data. You approve all of it in one step on Airbnb's side.

Q: How do Airbnb listings get matched to my Duve rentals?

A: On the Airbnb connection page, you get a matching table with your Duve rentals on one side and your Airbnb listings on the other. You can map more than one listing to the same rental. Mapping listings in one Airbnb connection never clears listings you mapped in another connection. Duve also adds the listing ID to a rental automatically when a reservation for that listing syncs.

Q: What happens right after I connect for the first time?

A: Duve scans your existing reservations and stamps the Airbnb ones with the new connection. It looks at reservations that are not canceled, are not demo data, and have not already been linked to an OTA source, where the booking source, second booking source, or agent field mentions Airbnb, or where an Airbnb ID already exists. Reservations are processed in batches, so a large account takes a while to finish.

Q: Can I message Airbnb guests from Duve?

A: Yes, once the connection has two-way enabled and the chat sync toggle turned on. Messages you send from Duve are delivered into the Airbnb thread, and guest replies come back into the Duve chat. Q: What happens if two rentals are mapped to the same Airbnb listing?

A: Duve cannot tell which rental the reservation belongs to, so it holds the event instead of creating the reservation. Fix the mapping so each Airbnb listing points to a single active rental.

Q: Why do I sometimes see two reservations or two chats for the same Airbnb booking?

A: This can happen when the same booking arrives from both your PMS and Airbnb. Duve runs background jobs that find these duplicates, move the messages onto the reservation that is kept, and remove the extra reservation and chat.

Q: Do I need to reconnect the integration periodically?

A: Duve refreshes the Airbnb access token automatically. If the connection stops working, for example because access was revoked on Airbnb's side, open the connection in Duve and use the reconnect option to authorize again.

Q: Can I connect more than one Airbnb account?

A: Yes. Add one connection per Airbnb host account. Incoming events are routed to the right connection by the Airbnb host ID, and you can give each connection a nickname so they are easy to tell apart in the list.

Q: Why is there no manual sync button on the Airbnb connection?

A: The Airbnb integration is event-driven rather than schedule-driven, so Duve does not run manual calendar or reservation pulls for it. Reservations and messages arrive as Airbnb sends them.
