With the new live availability feature for Protel On-Prem and Protel Air, hosts can now provide a seamless room upgrade experience. This feature automates the upgrade process by validating real-time availability, eliminating the need for manual approval and significantly reducing operational effort.
Overview
- Each time the guest approaches the Room upgrade in the Online Check-in or Guest App, Duve will request live availability for the higher room categories for exact reservation dates
- Duve will only show the room categories that are available as per what is received from the PMS
Instant booking of Room Upgrades.
- If the upgrade is available, and instant booking is enabled in the room upgrade upsell, the room type is updated in Protel once the guest confirms the upgrade.
To enable instant booking: Dashboard > Upsells > Room Upgrade
Guest Confirmation
Once the upgrade is successfully processed, Duve sends a confirmation to the guest, ensuring they know the upgrade was successfully applied.

Enable the “Check live availability from Protel [Air / On-Prem]” toggle
FAQs
What happens if live availability fails?
If live availability cannot be fetched, the system will log the error in the admin dashboard, and the guest will not be shown the unavailable room upgrades. A fallback error message will be displayed.
Can I manually approve room upgrades?
Yes, manual approval is still possible with live availability. Hosts can change the booking option in the room upgrades settings.
Does this work for all room types?
Live availability is only checked for the specific room type and dates the guest has already booked. If the room type is available for the entire stay, it will be shown as an available upgrade.
