We are excited to announce a new capability for hosts that allows them to override the security deposit stage during the online check-in, directly from the reservations page and the tasks page. This feature is designed to provide greater flexibility in handling security deposits, accommodating various scenarios where a security deposit may not be required or performed.

Overview

As part of the mandatory security deposit process, hosts now have the option to override the deposit page on a per-reservation basis. This is particularly useful in cases where a security deposit is not achievable, such as when a debit card cannot act as a "hold" charge. Currently, the security deposit page allows for limitations based on booking sources and tags, and hosts can override the deposit request on the rental page. This new capability extends that flexibility by adding override options directly on the reservations and tasks pages.

How to Set It Up

Reservation Page:

A new toggle named "Allow guest to skip 'security deposit'" is available on the reservation page. When enabled, this toggle allows the guest to skip the security deposit step during the online check-in (OCI) process.

Note: If the guest is assigned to a room without a deposit, the toggle will not be visible. When the security deposit is enabled, and the host allows, the skip button will be available.

Tasks Page:

When the deposit has not been collected - Hosts can "Allow guest to skip security deposit"

Post-Skip: After enabling the skip, the icon changes and a tooltip displays the username and date of approval.

Online Check-In (OCI): If the skip option is set, a "skip" button will be shown on the security deposit page during the OCI process.

Logs:

- A log entry will be created: "Allowed to skip the 'security deposit' by {{user name}}."
