Duve now offers enhanced control over the guest login experience, enabling hosts to customize the login method for their properties. This update is particularly beneficial for hosts with a high volume of group or agent-driven reservations. It ensures a smoother check-in process and higher guest app adoption, even when contact information is not directly available.
This article outlines the new guest login options, how hosts can configure the login experience, and the expected system behavior.
New Login Methods
Settings UI Update
The guest login settings will be moved from the Check-In section to the General section of the host's control panel. Here, hosts will find two sections:
Login Method Settings – Hosts will be able to select which login methods are available and set the default.
2FA Protection – Previously set under Settings > Check-in > Guest Login.
How to Set It Up?
Go to Settings > General > Guest Login to start the setup.
Select Login Methods to make available to guests: Hosts can set a default login method for guests.
For existing customers, the default will be Email + Check-in Date.
-
For new customers, the default will also be Email + Check-in Date, but hosts have the option to modify it.
If only one login method is selected by the host, guests will not have any options to choose from.
Note: Login settings are applied at the account level, meaning the same settings will be used across all properties under the host’s account.
Login Method Options
Phone: Guests can log in using their phone number, provided the SMS service is activated for the account. (Learn more about SMS activation here).
Email: Guests can log in using the email associated with the booking.
Booking Number: Guests can log in using the booking number provided at the time of reservation.
Full Name + Check-out Date: This new login method is designed for agent or group bookings, where personal guest information is not readily available. Guests can log in using their full name and check-out date.
How Guests Will Log In
The login screen will be shown from multiple locations, including:
Digital Spots
Check-in Portal Links
Kiosk Mode Link
Public Guest App login to Private Guest App v
Guest Login Flow
When guests reach the login screen, they will see:
The guest can change the field "Identify with:" and change their desired login method.
Automatically Populated Check-in Date: This will default to the current date.
Reservation Selection: If the guest has multiple reservations, they will be directed to a screen where they can select the specific reservation.
Important Notes for Guests
If the host only allows one login method, the guest will not have an option to select a different method.
For guests who are booking via agents or as part of a group, the Full Name + Check-out Date method will be available to ensure they can access their guest app and complete the check-in process, even if they haven’t received a personal link.
Digital Spots Integration
Changes in the Digital Spots Screen
The Guest Arrival Flow toggle will be removed from both Online Check-in and Face Verification at the Hotel options under Digital Spots. However, when the Guest Arrival Flow toggle is turned on:
The default login method for QR codes will be Full Name + Check-out Date + Check-in Date.
A banner will be displayed on the Digital Spots screen to notify the host that the login settings for this barcode have been overridden.
