Duve now allows hosts to automatically release digital (online) keys using Scheduled Messages, without relying on PMS status updates.
This feature is designed for accounts with an active TTlock connection, and is especially valuable for Guesty and vacation rental workflows, where a “checked-in” status is not available.
By using Scheduled Messages as the trigger, hosts can ensure that digital keys are released only after guests complete Online Check-in (OCI) and any additional conditions set by the host providing a secure, scalable, and fully automated access flow.
Who can use this feature?
- An active TTlock connection is enabled in Duve
How it works
At a high level, the flow is:
- The host creates or edits a Scheduled Message
- The host enables the Auto-release online key toggle
- The scheduled message trigger and all configured conditions are evaluated
- Once conditions are met, the digital key is released automatically
- The key becomes visible in the Guest App with the host’s messaging
Setting up automatic key release
Dashboard > Communication > Scheduled messages
Step 2: Configure the trigger and conditions
Set the trigger and any required conditions, such as:
- Online Check-in completion
- Required documents uploaded
- Payment completed
- Mandatory fields filled
- Check-in time or ETA reached
These conditions determine when the key can be released.
Step 3: Enable digital key auto-release
In the Scheduled Message settings, enable the toggle:
This toggle:
- Releases digital (online) keys only
- Does not release access codes
Late check-in behavior
This feature fully supports late check-ins:
- If a guest completes Online Check-in after the scheduled check-in time or ETA, the key is released immediately
- Edge cases where OCI is completed late are handled automatically
- Guests do not need to wait for manual intervention to access the unit
Host visibility & logs
Once a digital key is released automatically:
- A log entry is added to the reservation activity log with timestamp
- The log clearly indicates that the key was auto-released by Duve
