The Public GuestApp Anonymous Guest Chat feature allows properties to offer WhatsApp communication to visitors who are not logged in to the GuestApp.
With this feature enabled, potential guests, companions, day visitors, and other anonymous users can contact the property directly through WhatsApp from the Public GuestApp.
This helps properties improve guest engagement, increase inbound communication opportunities, and make it easier for visitors to reach the hotel before or during their stay.
To Start
Before enabling this feature, make sure:
- Your property has at least one WhatsApp phone number configured in Duve.
- WhatsApp communication is already enabled for your account.
- The “Enable chat messaging with guests” setting is enabled.
If no WhatsApp number exists, the feature cannot be activated.
How to Enable Anonymous Guest WhatsApp Chat
In Duve, go to Settings > Communication > Basic.
Enable Chat Messaging with guests, and then 'Enable Public Guest App Chat
Once enabled, anonymous users will be able to access the WhatsApp contact option from the Public GuestApp.
Guest Experience
Once enabled, guests will be able to access the selected Duve WhatsApp number from the Chat:
Users tap Chat with us then the user is redirected to the WhatsApp number for that property.
Multiple WhatsApp Numbers
If an account has multiple WhatsApp numbers available, the phone number showing in the Guest App must be configured by brand.
Additional Notes
- This feature currently supports WhatsApp only.
- The feature does not affect the logged-in guest chat experience.
- If the selected WhatsApp number is removed from Duve, the feature will automatically be disabled.

Who can use this feature?
Any anonymous visitor using the Public GuestApp can contact the property through WhatsApp when the feature is enabled.
This may include:
- Potential guests
- Day visitors
- Friends or family members of guests
Does this replace the regular guest chat?
No. This feature only adds WhatsApp communication for anonymous users in the Public GuestApp.
The existing logged-in guest chat experience remains unchanged.
Can I choose which WhatsApp number guests contact?
Yes. If multiple WhatsApp numbers are configured in your account, you can select which number is used for anonymous guest communication.
What happens if no WhatsApp number is configured?
The feature cannot be enabled unless at least one WhatsApp number exists in Duve.
What happens if the selected number is deleted?
If the selected WhatsApp number is removed from Duve:
- The feature will automatically be disabled.
- The Public GuestApp chat option will no longer appear for anonymous users.
Can anonymous users chat directly inside the GuestApp?
No. Tapping the chat option redirects users to WhatsApp, where the conversation continues.
