The Room Upgrade – Map Rate Plan Variations feature allows Ohip-connected properties to successfully process room upgrades when different room types use different rate plans.
In some PMS setups, each room type is tied to a unique rate plan. Without proper mapping, upgrades may fail—even when availability exists—because the system cannot match the correct rate plan for the upgraded room.
This feature enables you to define groups of compatible rate plans, ensuring that when a guest purchases an upgrade, both the room type and the corresponding rate plan are updated correctly in Ohip.
Overview
When the feature is enabled and a guest purchases a room upgrade:
- Duve retrieves the guest’s current rate plan
- Matches it to a Rate Plan Group
- Finds a compatible rate plan for the new room type
- Updates the reservation in Ohip:
- Room type
- Rate plan
If no matching rate plan is found, the upgrade is automatically cancelled, as per current behavior.
How It Works
- You create Rate Plan Groups that include multiple rate plans that are considered compatible.
- When a guest purchases an upgrade:
- Duve identifies the guest’s current rate plan
- Finds the matching group
- Updates the reservation with the correct rate plan for the upgraded room type
- This ensures the upgrade is successfully applied in the PMS.
How to Set Up Rate Plan Mapping
- Go to the Settings > Connections > OHIP PMS Connection page
- Scroll to Room Upgrade – Map Rate Plan Variations
- Toggle the feature ON
Step 2: Create a Rate Plan Group
- Click Add New Group
- Enter a Group Name
(e.g., “Bed & Breakfast”, “Room Only”) - Select all relevant rate plans that belong to this category
(e.g., STD, DLX, BB) - Save the group
FAQ
Q: Why are my room upgrades failing even when rooms are available?
A: This usually happens when there is no matching rate plan for the upgraded room. Make sure all relevant rate plans are grouped correctly.
Q: Can Duve automatically match rate plans for me?
A: No. Rate plan mapping must be configured manually using groups.
Q: Can I create multiple groups?
A: Yes. You can create as many groups as needed to reflect your rate plan structure.
Q: What happens if I don’t enable this feature?
A: The system will continue using exact rate plan matching, which may result in failed upgrades.
Q: Is this feature available for other PMS integrations?
A: No. This feature is currently available only for Ohip-connected properties.
This setup ensures that your room upgrades are processed smoothly, reducing failed requests and eliminating the need for manual intervention.
